Alexandra feels that dance is one of the best ways to truly understand and visibly witness the elegance and fluidity of a woman’s body. “Once you truly understand a woman’s body, you can design for her”. During her ballerina period, she used to visit a ballet shoemaker almost weekly. He would custom make her slippers by measuring her feet and letting her choose the color and shape. She absolutely adored watching him create these gorgeous designs from just an idea. “It fascinated me that what he created with his own hands was so instrumental in how I was able to move on stage. My movements as a dancer were so intimately dependant upon the slippers he made”. Alexandra stopped dancing at 18 and focused this interest in ballet slippers into everyday wear.Always intrigued by the feminity of lingerie, Alexandra is inspired by the sexiness of garters, leg suspenders and the joy the dance at Moulin Rouge and Crazy Horse. All of this is the natural extension of her original “Gisele” style and her mastering of corsetry for the foot. She also is inspired in the drawings of Antonio Lopez, in the sensual, provocative universe of Mario Testino and Helmut Newton, as well as illustrators such as Norman Rockwell and Robert McGinnis, and fashionable icons, such as Audrey Hepburn. Dance remains her strongest guideline as Alexandra believes dance is special in that it is a way of life. It affects how one moves, thinks, and lives forever ! There is also, such an incredibly elegant quality in the way a ballerina carries herself; she is able to use her strength so gracefully. Her collections draw upon this strong femininity by giving women heels that let them balance elegance with the provocative, sweet and sexy..
